Choose your trip
The fast boat is the only sensible way to Nusa Penida: from Sanur, on Bali’s east coast, the crossing takes 30 to 45 minutes and drops you on the island’s north shore, the starting point for Kelingking, Broken Beach, Angel’s Billabong and Diamond Beach.
Book your seat online, pay by card, and receive your confirmation by email with the departure time, the harbour and the check-in instructions. On the day, show it with your passport at the boat company’s counter 30 minutes before departure. Five departures a day in each direction, from early morning to late afternoon.
Check in at Sanur Harbour, board the fast boat and land on Nusa Penida 30 to 45 minutes later.

Check in at the island harbour, cross back to Bali and land in Sanur, where taxis and drivers wait at the harbour exit.

Boats leave on time and the sea decides the rest. A few things worth knowing before you choose a departure.

Everything travellers ask us before booking the Sanur–Nusa Penida fast boat — times, harbours, luggage, payment and cancellations.
From Sanur to Nusa Penida at 07:30, 09:00, 10:30, 13:30 and 16:00; from Nusa Penida back to Sanur at 08:00, 09:30, 12:00, 15:00 and 16:30, every day. You choose the date and time when you book, and the exact time, boat company and pier are confirmed in your booking email.
€16 per person one way, and €31 per person for a return ticket. The price covers your seat on the fast boat and one bag plus a small carry-on, and is paid online by card. Nothing is paid at the harbour; on the island, foreign visitors pay the Nusa Penida levy (IDR 25,000 per adult) and, at the main sights, tickets of around IDR 25,000 each.
Between 30 and 45 minutes across the Badung Strait, depending on the boat and the sea. Count an extra 30 minutes for check-in before departure, and allow for the drive to Sanur: 30 to 60 minutes from Kuta, about an hour from Ubud or Seminyak, up to an hour and a half from Canggu.
In Bali, from Sanur Harbour on Sanur beach, on the east coast. On Nusa Penida, the boats land on the north coast at Banjar Nyuh or Buyuk, depending on the boat company — your confirmation names the pier. Drivers and scooter rentals wait at both harbours.
Yes — take the return ticket, an early boat out and a late-afternoon boat back. The booking form only accepts a same-day return leaving at least three hours after your boat out. Roads on the island are slow, so pick one side (west: Kelingking, Broken Beach, Angel’s Billabong; or east: Diamond Beach, Atuh) rather than both.
Right after payment you receive an email with your booking. We then reserve your seat with the boat company and send you the confirmation with the company, pier and check-in counter. On the day, show it on your phone with your passport, 30 minutes before departure.
One bag and one small carry-on per traveller. Boarding is sometimes from the beach, feet in the water, and crew pass bags on board by hand — a backpack or a soft bag is easier than a large hard suitcase. Surfboards and diving gear: tell us when booking and we confirm with the boat company.
The harbour master can close the crossing when the swell is too big — it happens occasionally, mostly in the wet season. If your boat does not sail, you choose: another departure at no extra cost, or a full refund. Boats are not cancelled for ordinary rain.
Yes. More than 48 hours before departure: full refund. Within 48 hours: we keep 10% and refund the rest. Less than 12 hours before, or no-show: no refund. To change a date or time, write to contact@transfernusapenida.com — we move you to another boat when seats are available.
Two levies, both separate from your boat ticket, plus entry tickets. The Bali tourist levy (IDR 150,000 per foreign visitor, once per stay) is paid online before you arrive in Bali. Nusa Penida charges foreign visitors an island levy of IDR 25,000 per adult and IDR 15,000 per child aged 4 to 13, once on arrival. Since September 2026 the main sights also charge a ticket of around IDR 25,000 each. Payment is meant to be by card or QR code; carry some rupiah in case.
Children take a seat and pay the same fare as adults. If you travel with a baby or a toddler, mention it in the booking message and we pass it on to the boat company.
Up to 10 travellers in one booking online. For more, or for a private boat, write to contact@transfernusapenida.com with your dates and numbers and we come back to you with a quote.
